Repair Dorm, Facility 131
Requirements
CONSTRUCTION – Building 131 is an L-shaped dormitory building that is three stories in height. The materials of the facility are concrete masonry unit (CMU), brick, and concrete. Each dorm room is accessed from an exposed exterior balcony. There are shared toilet and shower facilities between two rooms. The common areas of the facility include laundry rooms, day rooms (with kitchens), stairs, storage, and mechanical rooms. The roof is a built-up roof with ballast. The facility is currently unoccupied. To bring the facility up to contemporary facility standards, the building is in need of major repairs that include all building systems. These systems include but are not limited to demolition of some interior partitions and equipment and construction of new interior partitions; demolition and replacement of all finishes and furnishings; demolition and replacement of all existing doors, flat roof, and existing exterior windows with energy-efficient doors, roofing system, and windows; upgrades to the fire alarm and suppression system, plumbing system, electrical power and distribution systems, lighting and grounding systems throughout the entire facility, and telecommunications systems. Other items to be repaired are CMU walls, degradation of structural members, repairs to walkways, overhangs, railings, stair tower finishes, and sidewalks; and new exterior lighting, landscaping, and force protection. Additional design elements as related to the user experience are as follows: each room when finished will have a counter space for a microwave and an under-counter refrigerator. The existing day room on the first floor is to become the Airman Dormitory Leaders (ADL) office. The dayrooms on the second and third floor are to have nice large kitchens with islands and various seating arrangements and entertainment options.
