Building 1220 Demolition
This project includes hazardous materials abatement; utility isolation, modification, and demolition; controlled demolition of Building 1220; removal of designated utilities within Utility Tunnel 1; and associated site restoration.
The work also includes relocation of the existing chiller serving adjacent Building 1219, installation of new underground chilled-water, electrical, and control infrastructure, pressure piping modifications, and electrical system improvements. A temporary 130-ton rental chiller will maintain uninterrupted cooling to Building 1219 throughout the permanent chiller relocation and system changeover.
Construction will be carefully phased and coordinated with NASA to maintain operation of adjacent facilities and critical infrastructure, including energized Substation D, while completing utility outages, demolition, environmental controls, and final restoration. Site improvements include pavement and utility restoration, grading and stabilization, and a new protective screen-wall enclosure at Substation D.
