Design-Build DHS Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological (COBRA) Incinerator Disposal and Facility Reutilization
Design-build demolition, disposal, and adaptive reuse of the existing Incinerator Building (801D) at the Department of Homeland Security Center for Domestic Preparedness into a ventilated indoor training facility.
Work includes hazardous material abatement; controlled demolition and removal of decommissioned incinerator equipment, process piping, utilities, and structural components; structural modifications and facility renovation; and installation of new mechanical ventilation, plumbing, electrical distribution, fire alarm, controls, and supporting building systems.
The project also includes construction of a new Incinerator Canopy and installation of specialized hazardous-material training props, with electrical power, domestic water, and compressed-air connections integrated into the renovated facility.
Additional options that may be exercised by the Government include a rooftop photovoltaic system with energy storage and off-grid microgrid capability, together with future microgrid connections to the existing O&M Building (801E) and Northville Training Complex.
