Repair Interior Offices, Secure Space, Facility 693
This project was to alter, renovate and repair the existing interior of the 23,000 SF Facility 693. The facility is an existing building constructed in the early 1900’s with two fully occupied stories, a partial basement and a partial attic. The facility is comprised of office suites occupied by the Air Combat Command and are used by Science and Protocol teams, with a third office area contiguous to the Protocol Suite. Renovation and repair work included interior selective demolition of walls, flooring, doors, fixtures, finishes, carpet and vinyl wallcovering replacement in the 1st and 2nd floor corridors, window glazing, restroom renovation and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression equipment and fixtures. New work included the installation of new walls, flooring, finishes, doors, windows, glazing, window film plumbing fixtures, creation of a lactation room, mechanical equipment, power, lighting and telecommunications devices, and the reconfiguring of the fire suppression system and fire alarm for the new space layout. Hazardous Materials abatement was also part of this renovation and since secure room construction was required in limited areas of the building, construction was phased.
Features of work included demolition, asbestos abatement, lead and mold remediation, hazardous materials handling, resurfacing concrete, rough and finish carpentry, laminate clad architectural and solid surface casework, spray foam insulation, wood doors, frames and hardware, access doors, window treatments, gypsum board and acoustical ceilings, resilient base flooring, carpeting, painting, interior signage, toilet compartments and accessories, furniture, fixtures and finishes, wet pipe fire suppression system, plumbing, HVAC system, DDC system, commissioning of systems, electrical system, electronic security system, interior fire alarm and mass notification system, excavation and miscellaneous landscaping.
